GPCG ropar has finally seen the ray of light after being in dormant state for 14 years. It has re-opened its doors to the students of Ropar and near-by areas of Punjab for the new diploma courses re-started in the year 2022.
Originally established in 1995, GPCG Ropar was commenced by Punjab Govt. to meet the ever increasing demand for competent technocrats by the industrial sector. It aimed at providing skill based Diploma Education to students' through state-of-art curriculum designed in co-ordination with industry. At that time, 6 courses of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy and Modern Office Practice were running.
In 2009, Center govt. in consultation with Punjab Govt. started IIT Ropar in the building of Gpcg ropar and as a result courses running in gpcgropar along with the students were shifted to other colleges. 14 years of continuous efforts finally have borne the fruit when the Punjab govt gave the green signal to restart the Govt Polytechnic college in the year 2022. Now that GPCG Ropar has come to life ,it has restarted two new courses in ECE and CSE, with the intake of 30 students each, after approval from PSBTE&IT and AICTE from year 2022-23.
Government Polytechnic, Ropar has a pool of talented and well qualified faculty equipped with good physical facilities in the form of buildings, lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, hostels etc. With skilled technicians and craftsman for adoption of appropriate technologies, we consistently adapt to the changing needs through continuous up gradation of all our resources.
Also, Govt Polytechnic college for girls has got the approval to become co-educational so from the session 2023-24 boys along with girls will be able to take the advantage to gain technical know-how from govt. college. GPCG Ropar will make every stone unturned to fulfil the demand of the industry by producing well trained technical work force , who could be of tremendous help in making meaningful contributions to industries, community and rural development as well as inculcating a spirit of self-employment through all round training and skill development courses.
My organization, is committed towards imparting education which as defined by Swami Vivekananda says "Education should be man-making, life giving and character building".
We will make constant efforts for the advancement of college from time to time by adding new courses with state-of-art equipments. GPCG Ropar will incessantly climb up the ladder to reach new heights and become an institute of national repute.
